About Us
We started Blue Ridge Outing Company started in 1988.
When we started, we wanted to focus on "soft adventures" for families and older adults. Trips for older
adults did not,
work out, but our family trips worked great. And that's been the focus of our business ever since.
For the first couple of years we operated from our Condo
in Asheville, NC.
We rafted parts of the Green River, French Broad River,
and Tuckaseigee River.
In 1990, we moved to our Outpost on the Tuckaseigee River.
Being on the river makes it much easier to operate a
rafting business. We continue to
operate on the
Tuckaseigee River today and expect to continue
to operate on it for many years to come.
It's been 20+ years of challenges and triumphs.
And, most importantly, it's been 20+ years
of seeing smiling kids and their parents come off
the river
after a fun and adventurous rafting trip.
And as some of you may know, Bob, the owner of BROC,
passed away August of 09 after a battle with Leukemia.
We are continuing the rafting
tradition with Bob's kids.
Here is a picture of Bob taking our daughter, Clare on her first rafting
trip at 3.5 years old.
